Instagram transcript generator
Start with a recording you can use.

Instagram link transcription is not connected in tokscripts yet. If you have your own Reel recording or a file you are authorized to process, use the video upload workflow to turn its speech into reviewable text.

Direct link processing: planned · File upload: check availability
STEP 01

Use your original Reel file

Choose your original recording or a permitted local copy. A profile URL, a screenshot, or the post caption is not a recording of the spoken words.

STEP 02

Upload the recording

Open Video to Text and check the currently displayed provider limit. Upload the audio or video file rather than pasting an Instagram URL.

STEP 03

Separate speech from the post

Review the transcript against the recording. On-screen labels, post captions, music lyrics, and spoken narration can be different sources; do not treat them as interchangeable.

What to review in a Reel transcript

Short edits can pack several speakers, quick cuts, a music bed, and visual context into a few seconds. Check speaker changes, names, product terms, and words hidden by music. Text recognition on the video image is not the same task as transcribing its audio.

For a how-to Reel, keep the spoken steps in their original order and separately note anything demonstrated without narration. For an interview clip, keep quotations separate from a new summary. A transcript alone cannot capture a silent visual instruction.

Upload only material you own or have permission to process. This page does not offer private-post access, login-cookie imports, profile scanning, carousel transcription, or bulk downloads. Link support and profile workflows are planned, not released features.

Instagram transcript questions

Can I paste an Instagram Reel link here?

Not yet. Direct Instagram link processing is not connected. The available alternative is to upload your own or an authorized recording through Video to Text when its processing service is available.

Is the Instagram caption the same as the transcript?

No. A post caption is written metadata; a speech transcript describes words heard in the recording. Review each source separately when repurposing content.

Can tokscripts transcribe an entire Instagram profile?

No. Instagram profile imports and bulk link processing are not currently supported. This guide describes the single-file upload workflow.

Will the tool read text displayed in a Reel?

This workflow focuses on speech. Do not assume it accurately extracts every overlay, sign, subtitle, or silent visual step. Add important visual information separately after reviewing the video.

How do I add subtitles to my Reel?

Review the spoken text, then establish subtitle start and end times against the recording. If you already have an SRT, use the local subtitle editor to edit its cues and download it for a compatible video editor.
